This is a part time position up to 26 hours per week. The network technician will collaborate with IT Support, System Administration, and Management Information Systems of an organization to maintain network communications among all systems.

Duties:
  • Reports to the Dean of Institutional Research, Planning & Effectiveness & ITS
  • Configure and maintain TCP/IP-based networks
  • Configure and maintain Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches
  • Configure and maintain connections with Internet Service Provider (ISP)
  • Configure and maintain wide-area (WAN) Ethernet connections
  • Configure and maintain routing protocols
  • Perform regular switch firmware upgrades
  • Install and configure computer network applications
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot the computer network issues to run the systems smoothly
  • Manage and maintain firewalls and intrusion detection systems
  • Configure and manage all WiFi systems
  • Assist Telecom staff with VOIP
  • Maintain network documentation
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required/ Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years work experience with a strong emphasis on open source operating systems, tools and applications.
  • Documented facility with command line interfaces (CLI).
  • Documented experience with TCP/IP and Ethernet networks.
  • Ability to creatively develop solutions and work within operational and budget constraints.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytic skills
  • Ability to maintain and troubleshoot computer network system
  • Able to work both independently and cooperatively with ITS staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively with various College departments.
This position may require flexible scheduling to include evenings and weekends and duties at any Atlantic Cape location.
